Welcome to the Troop 209 70th Anniversary Celebration Web Site

It all began on December 20, 1939, eight boys and four adults started a Boy Scout Troop in Katy, Texas. This year Troop 209 is about to celebrate the 70th anniversary of that event. From that humble beginning, meeting at the Katy School, to today, where Troop membership is 84 Scouts and 81 active adults meeting in its own building.  Over those years thousands of local boys have participated in learning citizenship and leadership through a program based on outdoor adventure called Scouting. Many local doctors, lawyers, business and community leaders have been members of Troop 209.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Troop 209, we will be holding a  70th Anniversary Celebration, planned for Sunday January 10, 2010. All former Scouts, Scouters and friends are invited to attend this celebration. Come to the celebration and meet old friends and remember Scouting with Troop 209!

We are planning a fantastic event involving former Scouts and current Scouts, The event will start off with a Luncheon Ceremony at Taylor High School. We will then move across the street to an Open House at our current home, the Deren-Huff Scout House. There will be no charge for either the Lunch Ceremony or Open House, but in order to help plan our Celebration and get a correct head count for lunch, we ask you to please RSVP using the link below.

We are also looking for old Troop 209 photos and memorabilia. If you can contribute, please note on the RSVP form.
