Hurricane Season
June is the start of Hurricane season. "Be Prepared" and review these web sites to insure you and your family are ready. Scouts, print out the Be Red Cross Ready brochure and go over it with your family.

Also, requirement 8c for the Emergency Preparedness MB states: Prepare a personal emergency service pack for a mobilization call. Prepare a family kit (suitcase or waterproof box) for use by your family in case an emergency evacuation is needed. Explain the needs and uses of the contents.

Prepare this emergency kit and you will "Be Prepared" for a possible Hurricane or family emergency.

Troop 209 Division III Scouts headed to Colorado for backpacking and whitewater river rafting.

July 16 - July 25, 2008

Before the backpacking, we will be taking an all day raft
trip down the Arkansas River through the Royal Gorge Canyon. Take a look at the link below to see what we will be up against!

We will then be hiking a 22 mile loop trail that will take us to the Eastern flanks of Mount Harvard (14,420’) and Mount Columbia (14,073’) The trailhead elevation is about 9,000, and most of our campsites will be near 11,000’. We will be on the trail for 5 days and 4 nights. One of the days we will hike up to the summit of Mount Harvard. Use this link for some pictures taken at the summit of Harvard and Columbia.
